Sometimes we wait until spring is standing on our doorstep before we start thinking about gardening leaving us unprepared when spring arrives to invite us outside. Phil will discuss gardening subjects to consider during the winter months in preparation for spring. He is an expert with long experience growing vegetables in our area and an excellent guide to get
us started. Whether you are an experienced gardener or are just getting started, you will learn helpful new ideas and practices. This talk will cover planning the garden, pH and fertility, rotation, and specific vegetable recommendations for our region.
A native of Shady Valley, TN, Phil Blevins grew up on a small beef and
tobacco farm. He graduated from Johnson County High School and then
from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a B.S. in Animal Science.
