Foodscaping visionary Brie Arthur looks at underutilized garden spaces around homes or in the landscaped common spaces of planned communities and sees places where food can be grown, interplanted with non-food ornamental plants for year-round beauty. One of the young rock stars of horticulture, Brie will share her infectious enthusiasm for integrating edibles into a traditional ornamental landscape to increase bio-diversity and sustainability in everyday spaces.
Originally from southeastern Michigan, Brie Arthur studied Landscape Design and Horticulture at Purdue University. With more than a decade of experience as a grower and propagator at leading nurseries such as Plant Delights and Camellia Forest, she now combines her passion for plants and sustainable land management by communicating the value of gardening across the US.
Brie has been dubbed a revolutionary for her leadership in the suburban Foodscape movement and for her work with public schools across the US. She is in high demand at horticultural events throughout the country, encouraging gardeners to rethink the use of green spaces and adopt sustainable landscape practices that embrace beauty and util-ity. She appears as correspondent on the PBS Television show “Growing A Greener World” and her debut book, The Foodscape Revolution, has become a best seller on Amazon. Arthur is also a leader in green industry communications through her writing, speaking, film production and consult-ing. This year Brie was honored as the first recipient of the American Horticultural Society’s Emerging Horticultural Professional Award.
